Flint Firefighter Ricky Albert Hill Jr. died in the line of duty on the scene of a structure fire Saturday, February 25, 2023. Hill worked as an Apparatus Operator and Paramedic for the Flint Fire Department. He was 49 years old at the time of death.

The fire was reported at a vacant trailer in the Elms Mobile Home Park, which had been the site of numerous complaints and violations over the years. The trailer was engulfed in flames when the crews arrived.
While at the scene, Hill suffered an apparent heart attack and collapsed. He was transported to Hurley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Ricky was remembered most of all as an amazing father, role model and best friend. He was a special person with a big heart who gave his all in everything he did. He loved playing the guitar and writing songs. You would get a random text from Ricky that always brightened your day. Ricky served the Flint Fire Department for 16 years.

He met his wife, Amira, working on an ambulance. Surviving are his wife, son Ethan Claude, and daughter Kailey Lena.
